INSTITUTE OF APPLIED MATHEMATICS AND MECHANICS
OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF UKRAINE

The Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is a state scientific institution under the jurisdiction of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The Institute was created and operates with the aim of conducting scientific research aimed at obtaining and using new knowledge in the field of mathematics, mechanics and cybernetics, bringing scientific and scientific-technical knowledge to the stage of practical use, training highly qualified scientific personnel, meeting social, economic and cultural needs and innovative development of Ukraine.

The Institute was established according to the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR dated May 21, 1965 № 493 and the Resolution of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR dated July 8, 1965 № 181 as Donetsk Computing Center. By the Resolution of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR of May 15, 1970 № 155, the center was renamed the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics. In 2014, according to the order of the Presidium of NAS of Ukraine dated 05.02.2015 № 56, the Institute was moved to Sloviansk. In connection with the active hostilities in the city of Sloviansk, Donetsk region, and taking into account that by the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 02.08.2022 №679-r “On the mandatory evacuation of the population of Donetsk region” Cherkasy region is included in the list of regions recommended for the evacuation of the population of Donetsk region as a safe region, the Institute was evacuated to Cherkasy without changing its legal address (Order of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine dated 12.09.2022 № 427).
